"Devotion to me is a song about feeling so in love it’s almost like being ripped apart, there’s an intensity, a wildness and a tenderness. This is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever made, it draws from the bands that made me fall in love with music from Deftones to Yo La Tengo to Smashing Pumpkins to My Bloody Valentine."

My Soft Machine è un lavoro profondamente personale, una narrazione delle esperienze di Parks durante la navigazione dei suoi 20 anni e della crescita che vi si intreccia. È stato registrato tra Londra e Los Angeles, con i produttori Paul Epworth, Ariel Rechtshaid, Romil Hemnani (Brockhampton), Buddy Ross, collaboratore di Frank Ocean, e Carter Lang (SZA), oltre ad alcune autoproduzioni della stessa Arlo.

"The world/our view of it is peppered by the biggest things we experience - our traumas, upbringing, vulnerabilities almost like visual snow. This record is life through my lens, through my body - the mid 20s anxiety, the substance abuse of friends around me, the viscera of being in love for the first time, navigating PTSD and grief and self sabotage and joy, moving through worlds with wonder and sensitivity - what it’s like to be trapped in this particular body. There is a quote from a Joanna Hogg film called the Souvenir, it’s an A24 semi-autobiographical film with Tilda Swinton - it recounts a young film student falling in love with an older, charismatic man as a young film student then being drawn into his addiction - in an early scene he’s explaining why people watch films - “we don’t want to see life as it is played out we want to see life as it is experienced in this soft machine.” So there we have it, the record is called....My Soft Machine". - Arlo Parks

Arlo Parks ha recentemente annunciato un tour a settembre i nel Regno Unito e in Europa, che comprende uno spettacolo all'Eventim Apollo di Londra e uno show il 19 settembre all'Alcatraz di Milano. Inoltre, il 26 marzo sarà protagonista del BBC 6 Music Festival di Manchester, dove suonerà per la prima volta dal vivo le canzoni del nuovo disco. Il tour segue le esibizioni di Arlo al fianco di Harry Styles all'Aviva Stadium di Dublino, Billie Eilish all'O2 di Londra, Florence & The Machine in Canada e Clairo nel suo tour nordamericano. My Soft Machine farà seguito all'album di debutto Collapsed in Sunbeams, acclamato e premiato dalla critica; un disco che ha ricevuto due nomination ai Grammy come miglior artista esordiente e miglior album di musica alternativa, ha vinto il BRIT Award come miglior artista esordiente, ha ricevuto lo Hyundai Mercury Prize e ha vinto il BBC Introducing Artist Of The Year Award. Il suo album di debutto ha anche raggiunto la top 3 in UK della classifica degli album e ha vinto gli AIM Awards per il miglior album indipendente e il premio UK Independent Breakthrough. Oltre a tutto questo, Arlo è stata anche nominata Breakthrough International Act ai BET Awards, è stata nominata la più giovane sostenitrice di alto profilo dell'UNICEF e ambasciatrice dell'associazione britannica per la salute mentale CALM. L'artista ha in programma di continuare a collaborare con entrambe le organizzazioni benefiche anche nel 2023. 
 
Oltre agli importanti riconoscimenti ottenuti lo scorso anno, l'album di debutto di Arlo è stato incluso in quasi tutte le liste dei "Migliori album del 2021" e ha ricevuto il plauso della critica da parte di The Guardian, Rolling Stone, NME, The FADER e molti altri. Arlo ha eseguito i singoli del suo album di debutto a Later... With Jools Holland e a The Graham Norton Show nel Regno Unito. Si è esibita anche al Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, CBS This Morning: Saturday e Ellen DeGeneres negli Stati Uniti.
