Ad accompagnare l'annuncio il cantauore britannico rende pubblico oggi il terzo estratto dall'album "Don't go far", brano rappresentativo delle sonorità dell'artista, in grado di catturare le melodie più raffinate e le emozioni più profonde.
La rara e preziosa unione di una chitarra veloce (risultato di due anni passati a Siviglia) e di melodie quasi "spettrali" hanno portato Cunningham, attraverso 3 ep e l'album Lines rilasciato nel 2017 via Dumont Dumont, a superare i 165 milioni di click su Spotify.

Con "Permanent Way" Cunningham supera la difficile prova del secondo album e si sgancia dall'etichetta di cantautore acustico grazie a dinamiche sonore ricche di colori e di energia che rimangono legate però all'essenza del fascino del cantautore.
L'album testimonia le incertezze della vita: il bisogno di amore e di intimità, ma anche quello di rapportarsi con l'esterno e l'urgenza dell'indipendenza, come afferma lo stesso Cunningham: “I’m quite a private person outside of performing. There is some autobiographical stuff in the lyrics, but it flits in and out quite a lot; it’s much more about people generally and their interactions”.
C'è il ritorno di Duncan Tootill come co-produttore su alcune cose ma l'album è stato prevalentemente trattato dal producer/engineer Sam Scott. Inoltre, un viaggio a Los Angeles per una session con il produttore Rodaidh McDonald (The XX, King Krule) ha dato vita a "Don't Go Far" e ad altre due canzoni dell'album.
