Oakland came together to "Push Back" against hate with the resist-mix, which brings together blues and Hip Hop as the sound of resistance. Featuring Bay Area artists Fantastic Negrito, Mistah F.A.B. and Zion I, "Push Back (Oakland Resist-Mix)" was premiered last night by Ebro on Beats1 and blends the different styles of the Northern California city into a groove-laden track the hums to the beat of the city.

"It was a great honor to work with Mistah F.A.B. and Zion I on the remix of 'Push Back'," says Fantastic Negrito. "I also want to give a huge shout out to Ebro at Beats1 for putting this collaboration out to the world. The video for "Push Back" exudes the universal embrace of Fantastic Negrito's music, which Afropunk.com observes, "Fantastic Negrito leads the resistance in the expressive video for the passionately frustrated, ridiculously infectious 'Push Back'."

Pubblicato a giugno 2016 da Believe Digital Italy, “The Last Days of Oakland” è il disco di debutto di questo straordinario artista dalla vita tanto intensa quanto incredibile. Dopo aver sciolto un contratto milionario con una major agli inizi degli anni 2000, Xavier Ddhrepaulezz, in arte Fantastic Negrito, si allontana dalla scena musicale. In seguito ad un terribile incidente d’auto in cui è rimasto in coma per quasi un mese, torna dalla sua famiglia e dai suoi tre figli, dopo un lento e difficile recupero dell’utilizzo delle mani (i medici gli dissero che non le avrebbe più mosse). L’insonnia di uno dei suoi figli gli fa riprendere in mano la chitarra, e Xavier riscopre l’amore per il blues e per la sua nuova incarnazione, Fantastic Negrito. “The Last Days Of Oakland” è la scoperta e la consacrazione di un grande artista black, in grado di spaziare dal blues all’r’n’b, dal roots al rock. Con il disco di debutto, pubblicato a giugno 2016, si aggiudica l’NPR Tiny Desk Award (uno dei contest online più importanti e seguiti in USA) e vince il Grammy Awards 2017 nella categoria “best contemporary blues album”.
A distanza di un anno dalla pubblicazione dell’acclamato debutto, Fantastic Negrito firma con Cooking Vinyl e ripubblica a luglio “The Last Days of Oakland”, arricchito da due nuovi brani, “Push Back” e “The Shadows”, che vedono la collaborazione di Masa Kohama e Tomas Salcedo alle chitarre, Cornelius Mims al basso, Lionel Holoma Jr (piano, organo) e, ovviamente, Xavier Dphrepaulezz (voce, additional piano, additional guitar, drum programming e claps). Riguardo alle nuove canzoni, Fantastic Negrito afferma “We must unify -- not divide -- along the lines of our differences. We have a common enemy: distraction and propaganda. Our strength is in our diversity. We push back against our common enemies: fear, hate, bigotry, misogyny, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, classism... these parasites, these carcinogens that live in the shadows of our society. One world, one love, one race.”
