Hanibal - Atlante (EP) (Radio Date: 19-09-2022)

Una nuova uscita solista per Hanibal e la seconda per la linea Kutmusic Libreria Moderna.
Hanibal torna con un nuovo EP e nonostante la sua sia ormai una copiosa produzione, non smette mai di sorprenderci.
La sua ultima fatica questa volta parte con atmosfere cupe: la prima traccia, che dà anche il nome all’EP, si preannuncia già dalle prime battute portatrice di guai. Sarà la voce di Zeus a farci capire che siamo al momento più alto della composizione, nel punto in cui il titano Atlante viene condannato dal padre degli dei a caricarsi sulle spalle le tragedie del mondo.
Con “Ilio", la seconda traccia, l’ambientazione è più rilassata e distesa, quasi avvolgente; anche qui c’è un chiaro riferimento al mondo classico o addirittura a quello arcadico. Degna di menzione la parte finale del brano, in cui una donna sembra indicarci l’ubicazione dell’antica Ilio.

Con il terzo brano, raggiungiamo il punto più alto dell’EP; è superfluo fare riferimenti alla maestosità del corvo, che con il suo volo a metà tra il cielo e la terra, si fa messaggero degli dei.
Ascoltando “King Crow” ci sembra quasi di vedere il re di tutti i corvi volare sicuro e minaccioso sopra le nostre teste, segnando il nostro destino; anche qui i cambi repentini di intensità ci catturano e ci emozionano ad un livello profondo, soprattutto nella parte finale del brano.

Il lavoro si chiude con “Formant", privo di riferimenti al periodo classico, non per questo sminuisce se paragonato ai precedenti tre brani: i ritmi si fanno mano a mano sempre più serrati, non smettono di tenerci in sospeso e siamo in costante attesa di vedere che cosa ci aspetti dietro l’angolo.

A new solo release for Hanibal and his second under the Kutmusic Libreria Moderna brand.
Hanibal is back with a new EP and although his production is now copious, it never ceases to surprise us.
His latest effort starts with dark atmospheres: the first track, which also gives its name to the EP, already promises trouble from the very first bars. It will be the voice of Zeus to make us understand that we are at the highest moment of the composition, at the point where the titan Atlas (“Atlante“) is condemned by the father of the gods to take the tragedies of the world on his shoulders.
With “Ilio", the second track, the setting is more relaxed and relaxed, almost enveloping; here too there is a clear reference to the classical world or even to the Arcadian one. The final part of the passage is worthy of mention, in which a woman seems to indicate the location of the ancient Ilium.

With the third track, we reach the highest point of the EP; it is superfluous to refer to the majesty of the crow, which with its flight halfway between heaven and earth, becomes the messenger of the gods.
Listening to “King Crow” we almost seem to see the king of all crows flying safely and threateningly above our heads, marking our destiny; here too the sudden changes in intensity capture us and excite us at a profound level, especially in the final part of the piece.

The work ends with “Formant", devoid of references to the classical period, but this does not diminish when compared to the previous three pieces: the rhythms are gradually getting tighter, they don’t stop holding us in suspense and we are constantly waiting for see what awaits us around the corner.
