Dopo ‘Spark’ e ‘Because Of You’, ecco ‘Castles Of sand’, il nuovo brano di Lewis Watson, un inno super pop allegro e stimolante che anticipa la pubblicazione del terzo album ’The Love That You Want’, in arrivo il 29 maggio 2020.
Del nuovo brano Lewis dice: "sonically, this song is more ambitious so i'm super excited to see what people think. Castles of sand is a song I wrote about jumping head first into a relationship without really knowing the person. sure, it can work out sometimes and it'll be exciting at first but when you try to build a castle before building a solid foundation, things are bound to crumble. this song is about that moment."
"Obviously, we would've loved to have done a bigger video for the album's lead single and we were looking at a load of great pitches before this virus hit. But with everybody being at home, it made sense to take the video-making reins myself and have a shot at making the best video I could with the tools I had. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and I ended up with this monstrosity…sorry! x”
Bloccato nel suo appartamento di Londra a causa delle attuali circostanze senza precedenti, Watson ha creato e ospita Work From Home FM, un programma radiofonico quotidiano trasmesso in streaming via Twitch dalle 10 alle 13. Finora, lo spettacolo ha generato due festival di musica dal vivo su Instagram intitolati 'your quarantine dream team', che hanno caratterizzato set dal vivo di Lewis e amici tra cui Gabrielle Aplin, Amber Run, Hudson Taylor, Jordan MacKampa, Orla Gartland, Dodie, e una lezione di yoga insieme a Nina Nesbitt.
Registrato nel corso dell’anno con il producer/tecnico del suono Richard Wilkinson (Bombay Bicycle Club, Lianne La Havas, Honne) nel suo studio a Tufnell Park, ogni strumento presente nell’album “The Love That You Want” è stato suonato da Lewis o da Richard, ad esclusione degli archi. Lewis Watson racconta: ”Richard and I worked on this album for over a year, so I’m itching for somebody other than us two to have a listen. I feel like it's my best songwriting to date, and we’ve taken things a level up sonically too. We spent a lot of time making sure that every song has an interesting palette and textural depth.”
Lewis Watson ha pubblicato il primo EP, autoprodotto, appena teenager, nel 2012. Oggi ha 27 anni. Dopo un totale di 4 EP, tutti di successo, nel 2014 pubblica l’album di debutto ‘The Morning’, che raggiunge la TOP 40 lì, una serie di tour sia come headliner sia in apertura ad artisti del calibro di Coldplay e Kodaline. Dopo un periodo di fermo, nel 2017 pubblica il secondo disco, ‘Midnight’ in 2017, il primo con Cooking Vinyl. Il sound acustico che lo caratterizza si arricchisce in corposità e ampiezza, in un viaggio di ricerca sonora che procede con ’The Love That You Want’.
Lewis vanta oltre 250milioni di stream complessivi e si è costruito negli anni una solida fanbase, come testimoniano le numerose date sold-out del tour che lo ha portato in Europa, USA e Australia. Fra i live da headliner, notevoli quelli al London Shepherds Bush Empire, al NYC Bowery Ballroom, e al LA Troubadour. Lewis Watson ha inoltre collaborato con Lucy Rose, Gabrielle Aplin, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Dodie e Guillemots, e fra i suoi fans ci sono Lewis Capaldi, Camilla Cabello e Chloe Moretz.
