Meg Mac - Understand (Radio Date: 26-08-2022)
Having made her triumphant return at the top of 2022, Australian pop supremo Meg Mac offers another gorgeous morsel just weeks from her upcoming album with the reveal of her sky-reaching new single, ‘Understand’.

Co-written and produced by Jesse Shatkin (who performed the same duties on ‘Chandelier’ by Sia), ‘Understand’ showcases the world class vocal tones of Meg Mac over a more dance floor ready arrangement.
Arriving with a video directed by Ash Lim, the track is an exciting bridge to ‘Matter of Time’, set for release in less than a month from now.

Speaking on the track, Meg Mac states “I think if you put yourself in anyone’s shoes, even your worst enemy you would understand where they’re coming from. We’re all misunderstood and at the same time I think we all need to be more understanding.”

Having recorded and primed a previous ‘third album’ for imminent release in 2020, Mac had what she now describes as “a bit of a meltdown” with personal and professional doubts coming to a head. She scrapped the body of work two weeks before launch and moved to a remote village in the NSW countryside. “I wanted to just start again and do everything without compromise,” begins Meg Mac of the game-changing personal switch-up
that led to the Sydney-born singer’s incoming third album.

‘Matter of Time’ came into being across 2020 and 2021 and is a document of an artistic rebirth of sorts, fleshed out by her most fully-realised sonic and visual palette yet. Returning after this hiatus, 2022 has seen Meg Mac stun with a series of beautifully poised singles, gaining press acclaim from the likes of NME, Wonderland, CLASH, House Of Solo and more.
Evidenced by her powerful first singles ‘Is It Worth Being Sad’ and ‘Only Love’, Meg Mac has created a body of work rich in searing honesty. A project that saw her connect with The Donuts (Kendrick Lamar) on production, ‘Matter Of Time’ is the next chapter from an artist who continues to carve a niche for herself. ‘Matter of Time’ is “how I’ve always wanted to do an album” she affirms, “…knowing when it’s not right, and having the confidence to say so and to take it in a different direction. Now for the first time, I really feel in control.”
