merci, mercy - Black Cloud (Radio Date: 23-06-2022)
Sydney-based alt-pop artist merci, mercy today shares her vivid new single, "Black Cloud."
Written with her close collaborator Chris Collins (Azure Ryder, Middle Kids, Gang of Youths), "Black Cloud" is another taste of the honest lyricism and infectious melodies that have won the young singer-songwriter hearts across the globe. In typical merci, mercy fashion, "Black Cloud" turns a lyrically dark song exploring her mental health issues into an irresistible pop anthem.
“'Black Cloud' is about my mental health taking a toll on my relationship. I'm unable to experience the simple joys of life with my partner because I'm consumed by a black cloud. I am the type of person that needs to know it will work out or else I won’t bother to try. “This song shows that I am working on myself to make the relationship successful, despite being wrapped in a black cloud. I’m willing to do the work because of how much I love this person; life would be a tragedy if I didn't at least try.” – merci, mercy "Black Cloud" offers another look at merci, mercy’s forthcoming sophomore EP, due out later this year. It arrives with a video from fellow Sydney local, Jasper Burrows Millican.

merci, mercy now has over 15 million streams to her name, a debut EP no thank you, no thanks, and press support from the likes of Paper Magazine, Flaunt, Clash and NME. Much of her music, including recent singles ‘Winnie Crush’ and ‘Sick To My Stomach’ explore her mental health struggles and battles with addiction. Despite their dark lyrical content, her songs are wholly infectious and have resonated with fans globally, added to triple j locally and also receiving love from Jack Saunders at BBC Radio 1, and airplay throughout Europe on Germany’s Flux FM, Dasding and Bayern 3, Spain’s RNE, Switzerland’s RTS Couleur 3, Belgium's Studio Brussels, Austria’s Radio Sound portal, France's Radio Vexin Val-de-Seine, Ireland’s RTE FM and the Student Music Network (UK).
