I Porij condividono oggi la loro prima novità musicale del 2023 con il groove dancefloor-ready "You Should Know Me", lanciato ieri sera con Clara Amfo a BBC Radio1 e il New Music Fix Daily a BBC 6Music. Il nuovo singolo, che rappresenta il debutto della band con Play It Again Sam Records (Nation Of Language, Westerman e Connie Constance), è il primo assaggio di quelli che saranno 12 mesi di grande successo per i 4 elementi, che si sono ritagliati una nicchia all'avanguardia del dance-pop di matrice queer. I Porij hanno vissuto un 2022 di grande successo, pubblicando l'EP Outlines, facendo il tutto esaurito all'iconico Heaven di Londra, esibendosi in un set molto pubblicizzato a Glastonbury e consolidando la loro fama di giovani beniamini della stampa, della radio e dello streaming. All'inizio di quest'anno hanno supportato i Coldplay in una serie di spettacoli negli stadi, tra cui l'Etihad Arena di Manchester. La nuova musica dei Porij è co-prodotta dal leggendario David Wrench (Frank Ocean, The xx, Young Fathers). La band si esibirà in uno spettacolo speciale alla Royal Albert Hall con i Little Dragon il 22 novembre. Poi, alla fine del mese, suonerà con i Friendly Fires, prima di una serie di piccoli show nel Regno Unito nel gennaio 2024.
You Should Know Me is a tantalising taste of what to expect from new Porij. Unusually for a new act, playlisted at both BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music: Porij straddle genre and refuse to stay in their musical lane. You Should Know Me is instantly moreish and deceptively depraved, setting the agenda for a massive 2024.
On the new single Porij say "The most balls to the walls tune on this record. This song sonically and lyrically is all about bravado. It explores the moments of anticipation before something could happen."
Porij will support Friendly Fires on the below dates - with a UK headline tour soon to be announced.
