Sam Fender è il vincitore del Critics' Choice Award 2019, premio assegnato in passato ad artisti quali Adele, Florence + The Machine e Sam Smith.
"Sono veramente onorato di aver vinto il BRTIs Critics' Choice Award. - Ha dichiarato Sam Fender - Già soltanto la nomination è stata qualcosa di folle, non pensavo alla vittoria. Sono grato a tutti coloro che mi hanno sostenuto, alla mia band e al mio team per tutto il duro lavoro. Abbiamo suonato letteralmente centinaia di concerti quest'anno e andremo avanti ancora il prossimo anno. Soprattutto un grande ringraziamento va ai miei fan. Ho incontrato molti di voi negli ultimi anni ed è davvero un onore alzarsi e suonare notte dopo notte con un gruppo di persone così meraviglioso. A tutti quelli che hanno creduto in me, grazie. All'anno prossimo!"

Sam Fender ha da poco pubblicato il suo EP di debutto, 'Dead Boys', su etichetta Polydor Records/Universal. Le sue canzoni sono caratterizzate da ritmi impetuosi e struggenti melodie che si fondono con argomenti di grande impatto sociale. Fender è stato inserito tra gli artisti candidati al BBC Sound 2018 e ha da poco terminato un tour nel Regno Unito e in Europa.
