Il nuovo album dei THE CHARLATANS vedrà la luce il 26 maggio 2017 via BMG/Self Distribuzione.
‘Different Days’ è il tredicesimo album per la band ed è co-prodotto da Jim Spencer nello studio dei The Charlatans nel Cheshire. Si trovano dei contributi eccellenti quali Paul Weller, Johnny Marr e persino Ian Rankin (scrittore di gialli) e Sharon Horgan (attrice, scrittrice).

Per questo album il vocalist Tim Burgess, il bassista Martin Blunt, il chitarrista Mark Collins e il tastierista Tony Rogers hanno aperto le porte a tutti gli amici. Inizialmente si è trattato di una necessità vista la dipartita del batterista Jon Brookes nel 2013. La prima chiamata è stata fatta quindi a Pete Salisbury, l’attuale batterista dei Verve. Poi una versione demo del brano ‘Not Forgotten’ è stata mandata ad Anton Newcombe dei Brian Jonestown Massacre’. 15 minuti dopo Anton rilanciava con delle idee.

Johnny Marr di suo aveva intenzione di passare in studio per 1 ora ma ha finito col lavorare a 3 brani incluso il singolo ‘Plastic Machinery’.
Allo stesso modo Stephen Morris dei New Order, che doveva dare una mano su ‘Modern Nature’ ha finito col lavorare a 7 brani dell’album (batteria e programmazione).
Ian Rankin e Kurt Wagner si sono occupati degli spoken word mentre Sharon Horgan canta nei cori di Different Days. Il gran finale è con Tim Burgess e Paul Weller in ‘Spinning Out’.
