I The Sherlocks pubblicano oggi la traccia ‘Under Your Sky’, nuovo estratto dall'omonimo album in uscita il 4 ottobre via Infectious Music/BMG. Il brano è stato lanciato in anteprima da Steve Lamacq su 6 Music.

La band si è recentemente esibita al Reading e al Leeds Festival sul Festival Republic stage e anche al Victorious Festival, suonando canzoni sia del primo album che del nuovo di prossima pubblicazione. Hanno inoltre annunciato la loro partecipazione come headliner al Neighbourhood festival di Manchester del 2019, insieme a Miles Kane.

'Under Your Sky' è il quarto singolo estratto dal discom dopo ‘Waiting’, ‘NYC (Sing It Loud)’ - il cui video vedeva la partecipazione del loro amico e attore Thomas Turgoose (This Is England/Game Of Thrones) - e ‘Magic Man’.

Grazie al loro debut album Live For The Moment del 2017 il quartetto di Sheffield THE SHERLOCKS si è affermato come una delle band di riferimento della nuova scena inglese alt-rock e indie, debuttando al n° 6 dell classifiche e che li ha portati ad aprire il tour europeo di Liam Gallager, fino ad arrivare a suonare insieme a lui anche in Giappone.

Se Live For The Moment era uno squarcio sulle sofferenze della gioventù, il nuovo disco vede il frontman Kiaran Crooke scrivere canzoni che collegano l'esuberanza dei giovani con la maturità e l'aspetto più riflessivo di una età più adulta. Questo nuovo approccio si riflette perfettamente nel primo singolo "NYC (sing it Loud)" che è stata trasmessa in anteprima da Annie Mac a Radio 1, “I wanna see the world with you,” canta Kiaran, immaginando di “getting lost in the city for a day”.

"It was the first proper American tour we’d done and I was blown away by the place,” spiega Kiaran, “The other side was wishing certain people could be there to see it with me. When you know people are at home and you’re having such a good time, you think, ‘If you could see what I’m seeing.’ Even though I’m in New York, I’m still thinking about people at home who I wish could see New York who have never been and may never go.”

Le canzoni nascono dalle esperienze personali, per la maggior parte di Kiaran, ma sono universali sul piano emotivo: "The driving ‘I Want It All’ reminisces over a gloriously stormy festival weekend in Wales, along with other memorable moments I spent with a special someone. Then the Springsteen-tinged ‘Time To Go’ celebrates the more casual romantic encounter.".
Sebbene ci siano canzoni che toccano i temi della disperazione, della perdita di ambizioni, come in 'Dreams', o i vari delicati aspetti delle relazioni amorose, come in 'Waiting', Kiaran affronta temi legati anche alle persone che vivono nelle sua città sempre in maniera malinconica, ma lasciando intravedere un futuro più positivo e in cui sperare.

Il processo di registrazione di Under Your Sky è stato decismente più strutturato rispetto al loro debut album: hanno trascorso 4 mesi, 5 giorni a settimana, nei Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios, con The Coral’s James Skelly alla produzione.
“The first album was us four in a room,” racconta Kiaran . “We wanted to make it really raw like the Arctic Monkeys’ first album or Kings Of Leon’s. We wanted to capture the live sound and polish it up a bit. With this one we’ve taken it a step further and made it slightly smoother and put more keyboards in. Rather than having the guitars thrashing all the time we’ve tried being a bit sweeter with it. It sounds more contemporary, I can hear it on Radio 1.”

Under Your Sky sarà disponibile in digitale, cd, vinile e formato cassetta e ci sarà anche un'edizione limitata in vinile blu con un artowrk inedito.
